Of course, these Challenges can be taken up alone, but let's not forget that Wizards Unite is a game where cooperation between wizards is essential, the different Professions having their advantages and disadvantages while being perfectly complementary. You would have understood it, Wizarding Challenges will be much more interesting in groups, up to a maximum of five players, with Niantic rewarding wizards who prioritize collaboration since the rewards will be much greater if the Wizarding Challenges are performed and successfully completed more than once.
On the map, Fortresses surrounded by a green aura indicate that a Wizarding Challenge is active there, allowing you to fight with other Wizards.
The Fortresses
Each Fortress is made up of several Combat Chambers whose difficulty varies. When you join your first Wizarding Challenge, you will only be able to access the first room. However, to be able to enter it you must be equipped with Runestones, the latter acting as a key to being able to enter the Chamber of a Wizarding Challenge.Runestones
There are different types of Runestones, each of which is related to a Family and has a level.- The level determines the strength of the Enemies and the quality of the rewards received if you emerge victorious from the Chamber. With a level 5 Runestone, you will, logically, face much more formidable opponents than with a level 1 Runestone, but the resulting rewards will be much greater and more interesting.
- The Family of a Runestone, as for her, set the Registry reward you may receive. Indeed, if you decide to use a Magizoology Runestone, you will have a good chance of receiving a collectible related to this Family. However, obtaining a reward from this Family is absolutely not guaranteed.
Salons
The first wizard to use a Runestone in the Chamber automatically creates a lobby, which allows different players to wait before the Wizarding Challenge begins. As long as the preparation time is not finished or the party is not composed of five wizards, players will be able to join the freshly opened lobby. When you wait in the lobby, two important values will be displayed. The one on the right indicates the time remaining before the Challenge is launched, the one on the left reveals the difficulty level of the Challenge, the latter being determined by the number of players, the level of the Chamber, and the level of Runestones used by each player present. If you leave the Chamber before the lobby countdown ends, the used Runestone will return to your Chest. However, if you leave after the challenge has been launched, the latter will be permanently lost.
Fight in a Wizarding Challenge
To be victorious in a Wizarding Challenge, you should, with teammates, defeat a certain number of Enemies, with their number set in the upper right corner of the Arena screen. Wizarding Challenges must be completed before the time runs out, with the countdown timer at the top of your screen, otherwise you fail and leave without any rewards. The table below offers some interesting data on the different levels of the Chambers:
- Time limit: corresponds to the maximum time you will have to kill all the Enemies present in the Room.
- Stun: Your waiting time in seconds if you run out of Stamina during a fight.
- Level required: the minimum level required to hope to access this Chamber.
- Difficulty: ratio based on different elements to define the difficulty of the Chamber in question.
Strategic Spells and Concentration/Focusing
Before confronting one of the Enemies present in the Chamber, you will be able to use Concentration/Focus resources to activate strategic Spells related to your Profession, with the aim of weakening the Enemy or improving the power of another wizard. To do this, all you have to do is drag a Strategic Spell from the Spell Bar, located at the bottom of the screen, onto a player or an enemy to activate and use it. Do not hesitate to press on one of the Strategic Spells in order to understand all its subtleties, the effects applied and the amount of Concentration necessary to cast it being important data. The pink gauge below the Strategic Spells indicates the amount of Concentration/Focus possessed. As you will have understood, the use of Strategic Spells consumes your Concentration/Focus points. However, these can be recovered if you manage to defeat Enemies, and bonuses will be awarded if you defeat an Enemy with a Focus icon.
Combat
Once you have defined a few strategic Spells, depending on your Concentration points, you will only have to press on an enemy to display the details of the confrontation and start the fight. It is important to specify that you will not be able to join a fight already in progress, on the other hand, you will have the chance to be able to influence the outcome of a fight in progress if you use the remaining Strategic Spells. When you're ready, press START to begin the battle.Battle Details

Attack and defend
Attacking in Wizarding Challenges isn't the easiest thing to figure out. You will find yourself facing a relatively powerful Creature, which will inflict heavy damage on you. Different phases of attack and defense will follow one another. To hope to eliminate the Enemy facing you, you will have to cast spells, which will only be possible to activate once you have managed to load the attack gauge. To do this, you will need to tap the screen and use your finger to drag your wand cursor over the more or less virulent icon of your enemy. Your objective will be to stay there for a few seconds so that you can launch your attack. Once fully charged, all you have to do is draw the proposed glyph, allowing you to cast the appropriate Spell. The defense phase will be much less complicated, an arrow appearing on the screen before the Enemy attacks, giving you the possibility to cast, if you correctly follow the glyph, the Protego spell, greatly reducing the damage you will take. Don't hesitate to use Potions to heal yourself so as not to run out of Stamina and be knocked out temporarily, refer to the table above.
The fight will end when one of the two participants has no more stamina. The green gauge obviously refers to your stamina, while the red is your opponent's. However, it is interesting to note that it was possible for you, during an encounter during a Wizarding Challenge, to come across Elite Enemies, far more ferocious variants of the Enemies you'll come across. In order to notice them more easily, their life gauge will not be red, but purple, and their name will be followed or preceded by the term “Elite”.
