The Last of Us Part I: a video where Naughty Dog presents all the improvements made possible thanks to the PS5

While The Last of Us Part I was the subject of a big leak just yesterday, Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided to unveil a brand new video in which Naughty Dog presents all the improvements that have been made possible thanks to to the PS5. Neil Druckmann, co-president of the studio, confides that the ambition of his teams was to offer a version faithful to their initial vision of The Last of Us without the slightest technical constraint. For his part, Shaun Escayg, both creative director and screenwriter, explains that the successor to the PS4 has made it possible to integrate a whole bunch of elements (4K 60fps, HDR, haptic features among others) which have helped to the creation of the remake.

Naturally, The Last of Us Part I stands out above all from the original version for its graphic quality. We are assured that the facial animations have gained in realism, with in particular a whole panoply of nuances adding soul to the characters. Shaun Escayg goes so far as to say that the expressions visible during the gameplay phases and those displayed during the cut scenes are now of the same quality. For his part, Matthew Gallant, director of the remake, underlines the effectiveness of the physics engine, again thanks to the capacities of the PS5. The world of The Last of Us Part I is suddenly more organic and contains countless destructible objects.



The same goes for the AI, which has benefited from some tweaks since The Last of Us Part II: whether it's enemies or allies, each protagonist takes into account the actions of each other before acting. On the content side, Neil Druckmann specifies that collectibles have been added, as well as the “Permadeath” and “Speedrun” modes, not to mention the multiple options geared towards accessibility. 3D audio has also been brought to bear, allowing Clickers to be heard before you even see them, from any direction.
