Escape From Tarkov is an online FPS with MMO elements and a large and growing player base. With so many players, long games, and large lobby sizes, Escape From Tarkov is likely to have server issues on occasion. Luckily, developer Battlestate Games and the Escape From Tarkov community have great sources to check server status. To check if the servers are down, go to the Escape From Tarkov status website.
The status website provides detailed information about Tarkov servers including real-time updates and server status for several areas such as matchmaking, group lobbies, launcher, etc. Players can even view a daily timeline to see if issues persisted throughout the day.

The official Battlestate Games Twitter account also tracks server issues and often posts updates if the servers are in use. The game has been in beta since 2017 and has been gaining popularity recently with Twitch streamers bringing more attention to the extremely technically advanced shooter. The servers struggle to keep up with so much activity, but if the servers aren't down, the problem may be with your connection.

To check if the problem is with the connection, first check the server status and then check your PC's network connection. If both are not a problem, unplug the modem and restart your PC. This may fix the problem, but if an error message persists, you may need to reinstall the game. The error message will usually say "Lost connection to server" or appear as error 106015, which is a bad error connection. If the servers are down, players can't do much other than wait and try to connect to the game again.
