In the mobile civilization strategy game, Rise of Kingdoms, players have several different options to choose from when deciding on a civilization to lead. At the very start of the game, players have a choice of 12 different civilizations. This includes Rome, Germany, Britain, France, Vikings, China, Japan, Korea, Spain, Arabia, Ottoman Empire, and Byzantium. Each civilization has three advantages and a special unit within its forces.
Spain

Players choosing Spain as their starting civilization will receive good boosts for the start of the game and will work well for a civilization based on resource production. Take on Pelagius and rule Spain with advantages in cavalry defense, experience, resource production, and special unit Conquistadors.
Benefits of Spanish Civilization
- 5% increased cavalry defense
- 10% more EXP gained from Barbarians
- 20% increase in resource production
Great Britain

Choose to play as Boudica, the leader of Britain, to earn handsome rewards that will aid players through most of the game. These perks increase things like archer attacks, troop training speed and garrison capacity. On top of that, Britain will grant the player's Longbowman as a starting special unit.
Benefits of British Civilization
- 5% increase in archer attack
- 5% increase in troop training speed
- 20% increase in allied garrison capacity

Arabia

Join Arabia in order to play as Baibars and gain three very good dynamic advantages very early to mid-game. These are especially good for players who are more interested in warfare as their form of overtaking other types of civilizations. This is due to their advantages in cavalry attacks, damage against neutrals, and damage dealt by rallied armies. Besides that, their special unit is a type of cavalry called Mamluk.
Benefits of Saudi Civilization
- 5% cavalry attack increase
- 10% more damage against Barbarians and neutral units
- 5% increased damage dealt by rallied armies
Japan

Players wanting another great choice for a war-based civilization should choose Japan. This is due to their perks that increase their troop attacks, scout march speed, and resource gathering speed. This will make them efficient at clearing their way through areas to claim quickly and allow them to do more with the time they have. The special unit they start with is the samurai.

- 3% increase in troop attack
- 30% increased scout walking speed
- 5% increase in resource gathering speed
Germany

This is the last of the big options for a militaristic takeover strategy in Rise of Kingdoms. There are several perks to help with this endeavor, including increases to cavalry attack, troop speed, and action point recovery. This will help them move and take over very quickly without being caught easily. Helping their speed, they start with the Teutonic Knight Special Unit, another cavalry unit.
