Bandai Namco buys part of Limbic Entertainment, developers of Park Beyond
In a world where the excluded are more and more important, to the point of becoming the sinews of war, redemptions are multiplying in the small world of video games. Today, it is Bandai Namco Entertainment which goes there with its small press release to announce that it has become the majority shareholder of the Limbic Entertainment studio. German company known for its management games, we owe the Might and Magic Heroes series between 2011 and 2015, but also Tropico 6 released in 2019. Currently, the German studio is working on Park Beyond, a park management game. attractions that we were able to discover just a few days ago in the middle of Europa Park. This agreement is part of the content strategy of Bandai Namco Europe, which wishes to significantly develop its activities outside of Japan. This investment is much more than a strategic decision for Bandai Namco. With Stephan Winter, Alexander Frey and their teams, we share the same values and the same passion for games. For 3 years, we have been working together to create new IPs. The first Park Beyond game will be released in 2023, but there's plenty more to come. This investment is just the continuation of our existing relationship, and we will help Limbic become the new benchmark in strategy and simulation games.
Founded in 2002 by Stephan Winter and Alexander Frey, Limbic Entertainment is based in Langen, Germany, and currently has 90 employees, working on several games that have yet to be announced. For Limbic Entertainment, this partial takeover will allow the studio to benefit from the financial assistance of the publisher, but also from its expertise in terms of back-office, publishing and distribution.
