Friday Night Funkin' (FNF) is the rhythm game that took the internet by storm in late 2020. Inspired by early 2000s Adobe/Macromedia Flash games and influenced by Newgrounds culture and Flash animation, the game has become a hit thanks to its clean gameplay and unique style.
After a surge of popularity in its first six months of release and a successful Kickstarter, a new "full" version of the game is set to release in 2022. However, you may have to wait for new tracks to play, new weeks for experience, and generally a fresh look at the game so far. But luckily, thanks to FNF's incredibly dedicated community, there are plenty of mods to choose from!

Inspired by the Madness Flash game and animation series on Newgrounds, the Tricky mod adds a familiar demon clown enemy to the game. A brutally difficult opponent to defeat, this all-new week features original music and story. With added cutscenes, three difficulty levels, and a host of old-school Flash animation winks and winks, this is a must-have game for fans of the genre.

VS Whitty Mod
The VS Whitty Mod was one of the oldest and cleanest new character mods in the game. By adding the titular Whitty as a new opponent, the mod was also one of the first to add much more difficulty important than the base game. This immediately made him a fan favorite.
Whitty's searing guitar riff-like vocals are a very unique sound for the game. Coupled with some truly engaging tracks, cutscenes and new dialogue, this is an essential mod for the game, certainly one of the best mods for Friday Night Funkin'. Unfortunately, the mod is currently not available for download, but you can play all week in your browser.

Friday Night Funkin' Miku Mod
Hatsune Miku, the world's most famous virtual idol, is a staple addition to games in nearly every modding community, and Friday Night Funkin' is no exception. Adding an entire week of new songs sung in Vocaloid style, the Miku Mod is a perfect addition to your FNF playthroughs.
It's a small mod, but works great with other mods and plugins for the game. It's not just one song either; it's a trio of tracks and a story for the week, making it a great way to expand your FNF experience.

Silva Pack
A compilation of several new tracks and opponents, the Silva Pack adds Mario, Big Chungus, Among Us Imposter, and more to the game. This includes a complete makeover of all existing weeks and plenty of new B-sides and free tracks to enjoy. It's also a feast of absolute visual dread, making it one of the most intense mods to experience on this list.
Additionally, the mod adds hard modes, easy modes, new backgrounds, and a whole new week of challenges. There's also a super-hard Hellbeats difficulty that pits you against Big Chungus in one of FNF's toughest challenges. A must-have for hardcore Friday Night Funkin' gamers.

HoloFunk (Hololive Funkin ')
Some of the best mods start off as half a joke before becoming a full-scale project. That's certainly the case in Hololive Funkin', a mod that started out as a faked screenshot on Twitter but quickly became a reality. In HoloFunk, all of the familiar FNF characters are replaced by the many talented Hololive Vtuber. Mori Calliope, Gwar Gura, Amelia Watson, and Shishiro Botan act as adversaries, while Momosuzu Nene becomes the "girlfriend" character.
But more than just a mod for a popular game, HoloFunk has become a tribute to HoloLive Vtubers who have graduated (retired). With Mano Aloe playing the title character and Kiryu Coco having his unique week and songs, it's a loving tribute to HoloLive and Friday Night Funkin' fans.
