Pyromancy builds use Intelligence and Faith as primary stats. Although there is less diversity in Pyro builds, the stats they use can be used for other casting builds. Intelligence and Faith are also the basis of all Dark versions of the game and Attunement will increase FP and Attunement slots.
Start of game

By choosing the Pyromancer starting class, players begin the game with Pyromancy Flame, Fireball Pyromancy, and the Great Swamp Ring. Near the early parts of the game is another damage increasing ring that sacrifices defenses in exchange for 15% more damage. The Fire Clutch Ring is one of the best rings for building and increases fire damage from all sources.
The weapon choices for this class don't matter much, and players can use either a Fire Gem or a Raw Gem during the early parts of the game. These, along with the Simple, Deep, and Blessed Infusions, remove weapon scaling. This causes the weapon to get stronger with each upgrade level, but won't need points dumped in strength or dexterity.
It is recommended to find Cornyx as early as possible for more Pyromancies, as much better Pyromancies can be purchased from him. Tomes are required for him to teach the player and can be found throughout the world. Fire Orb and Fire Surge are good pyromancies to have at this point while experimenting with different weapons.

Using pyromancies and fire-infused weapons, this build uses its full arsenal to try and inflict as much damage as possible. The main difficulties with this build are fighting fire resistant enemies, but there are ways around that.
Equipment
- Any weapon infused with a Chaos Gem or a weapon that scales with INT and FTH such as the Demon's Scar.
- Lloyd's Sword Ring
- fire clutch ring
- Ring of the Grand Marais
- witch ring

Pyromancies
- inner power
- Carthus Beacon – Can be traded but is especially useful for quick weapon attacks or continual Flame Surge uses.
- Chaos Bed Vestiges or Great Chaos Fire Orb until Seething Chaos becomes available.
- Chaos Storm – This is good area of effect damage, but may not be ideal to use in some fights.
Pyromancies can be replaced as needed and there are plenty to work with. Fire Whip and Great Combustion may suit some players playstyle as they are melee range and not weapon dependent. Faith and Intelligence are upgraded together to do the most damage. Even at 30 and 30, this build deals a lot of damage.
While some enemies are fire resistant, upgrading Faith and Intelligence also increases Dark damage.

Having two types of damage from a single catalyst is very useful. Dark Pyromancies can be purchased from Karla, with one available by transposing Wolnir's soul. There isn't much variation for dark arsonists, but there are plenty of options when using other dark traffic sources.
Equipment
- A darkness infused weapon works for melee or players can use weapons that scale with INT and FTH like the Onyx Blade or Troubled Scythe Hand.
- Lloyd's Sword Ring
- Dark clutch ring
- Ring of the Grand Marais
- witch ring
- Blindfold mask
Pyromancies
- black fire orb
- black flame
- black snake
The build is much better when used in combination with other pyromancies. It can be combined naturally and is a great solution for fighting enemies with fire or dark resistance. With all materials, each dark pyromancy cast will be increased by 67% with this build.
Equipment
Using pyromancies opens up many different options for players. There are many combinations of weapons, rings, and pyromancies to experiment with for a fun and powerful build.

Arms
- Demon's Scar – This weapon functions as a catalyst as well as a powerful firearm.
- Onyx Blade – This weapon deals both black and fire damage when ignited with its weapon art.
- Chaos and Darkness Infusions – Any weapon can scale with INT and FTH when infused with these infusions.
- Murky Hand Scythe – A fast-hitting dark weapon that can be infused for more damage.
Hoops
- Great Swamp Ring – The starter ring for the Pyromancy class that increases Pyromancy damage by 12%. It can also be given to the player by Cornyx after saving them.
- Witch Ring – A more powerful version of the Swamp Ring that increases pyromancies damage by 20%.
- Ring of Fire Clutch – This ring increases fire damage from all sources by 15 percent while decreasing the wearer's damage absorption by 10 percent.
- Dark Clutch Ring – The dark version of the Fire Clutch Ring.
- Sage Ring – These rings increase casting speed by a set amount but do not stack with each other. Players can instead use the Branch of the Wizard Tree instead to free up a ring slot.
- Lloyd's Sword Ring – Increases attack power by 10% at full power. This works for any form of damage dealt.
- Red Tear Ring – Increases attack power by 20% when HP is low. A risky ring with a big payoff.
Catalysts
- Pyromancy Flame – The starting catalyst for the Pyromancy class which is given to the player by Cornyx after saving them. Flame has the highest spell bonus for casting Pyromancies and Dark Pyromancies.
- White Hair Talisman – A catalyst that can cast both miracles and pyromancies. Due to an issue, FTH and INT stats must be the same for pyromancies to scale correctly.
- Pyromancer's Starting Flame – A special catalyst that rewards Estus Flasks after killing 12 enemies. It leaves a trail of fire after casting certain spells, making it stronger than the starting flame. It's inconsistent whether Fire Trails will hit, which makes Start Catalyst a more practical option.
Additional Notes
Poison and Toxic Mist pyromancies should not be overlooked as they are a good way to deal damage to weak enemies.
The Witch Tree Branch, while a Spell Catalyst, will increase the casting speed of all Catalysts. This passive is effective even in the left hand.
Boulder Heave is a pyromancy that deals physical damage and can be useful for knocking down enemies or fighting fire and dark resistant enemies.
Although some pyromancies are stronger than others, they can feel inconsistent when cast. Evaluating FP usage, stamina consumption, and even how they feel will yield different results for players. There are many ways to play with pyromancies and these builds allow players to experiment however they see fit.
