In the vast open world of Red Dead Online, you'll only need the best weapons to survive, because otherwise how can an outlaw like you engage in your business without these tools of the trade? That said, if you keep reading, you'll find the most up-to-date list of the best weapons in Red Dead Online.
In the next list below, you'll find the most up-to-date list of all the best guns in Red Dead Online. All of the weapons on this list can also be purchased from any gunsmith or from the in-game catalog. That said, if you keep reading, you'll find the most up-to-date list of the best weapons in Red Dead Online.
Best revolvers
In this category you will only find the best of the great irons available in Red Dead Online. Take a look and see what works for you, partner.
Revolver marine
Price: 275 $
The Navy Revolver is probably my favorite out of all the revolvers in the game. Not only is it based on the classic real-world version, but it hits like a dump truck, and its accuracy can probably rival that of the Rolling Block Rifle.
But it is a high price for new players, but much more affordable than the Lemat. Along with that, it recharges extremely slowly, but in the end, its damage and accuracy are worth it, especially if you're going to use two of those bad boys.
Revolver Lemat
Price: 317 $
Next on the list is the Lemat revolver; it is also in a situation similar to that of the Navy revolver. It hits hard and is decent with accuracy, similar to the Navy revolver; however, it has two important characteristics.
These being that it can hold a total of nine rounds and one shotgun shell. For this reason, it is the best revolver in terms of ammo capacity.
Revolver Schofield
Price: 192 $
Schofield will probably be your best bet for a Cattleman revolver upgrade. It's a decent choice and not bad for $192. But honestly, it's better to save for the Lemat or the Navy, because once you get one or the other, the Schofield can't compete beyond Tier 9.
Best pistols
Despite being a Western game, Red Dead Online has a few pistol picks, which are ultimately some of the best handguns in the game. Keep reading to find out which pistol you should pack.
Semi-automatic gun
Price: 537 $
The semi-automatic pistol is the fastest-firing handgun in the game and can be truly devastating in both PVE and PVP if you pack two. You will also dominate using the dead eye mechanic with two of these main shooter demons.
That said, honestly, you can't go wrong picking it up at any given time. However, it only unlocks at Rank 22 and has a hefty price tag, so if you want it, you better get grinded.
Mauser pistol
Price: 600 $
German-made and classic, the Mauser is the best gun in the game in terms of reload speed and ammo capacity. The Mauser also fires fairly quickly with pretty decent accuracy, making it an enemy to be reckoned with.
Dual wielding is also a great option for this weapon and can turn any player who wields it into a true bullet assistant. However, due to its $600 price tag and the fact that it only unlocks at level 34, it's more or less a late game weapon.
Volcanic gun
Price: 189 $
If you are low level and relatively poor, the Volcanic pistol would be a great choice for you. It has both decent damage, accuracy, and a reasonable price, making it the best low-tier starter gun.
best bows
Bows in Red Dead Online are the best silenced weapons in the game; they are also great for hunting. However, there are currently only two in the game at the moment, so you don't have much to choose from.
Improved Bow
Price: 275 $
The best bow you can get in the game is the Enhanced Bow, but only after reaching Rank 10. Also, you can't go wrong with either; both bows do excellent damage and can kill animals and enemies silently. Additionally, both prices for the bows are incredibly reasonable, with regular players costing $124 and the upgrade costing $275.
Best repeaters
A repeater is an outlaw's best friend; because they fire fast and can take down countless enemies. It is also said that with some repeaters you could load them on Sunday and shoot all week.
Evans Repeater
Price: 210 $
The Evans is a decent repeater in terms of ammo capacity, firing, and decent reload speed. Beyond that, it's not much for anything else unless you want a repeater that can fire more than 24 rounds. Other than that, I would recommend taking the Lancaster and the Litchfield over it.
Lancaster Repeater
Price: 170 $
Lancasters are my favorite repeaters because they are a good all-rounder for a very affordable price. These Repeaters also have the best accuracy, reload speed, and range out of all the Repeaters in the game. For this reason, you should get your hands on them as soon as you reach Rank 12.
Litchfield Repeater
Price: 243 $
The Litchfield is the most robust repeater currently in the game; it has excellent damage and not too shabby range and accuracy. However, it reloads slower than the Lancaster, but the damage more than makes up for it. For this reason, we recommend picking up the weapon when you reach Rank 18.
Best Rifles
Any decent outlaw should also consider picking up a trusty rifle to take down lawmen or animals at long range with repeaters. If that sounds like you, keep reading for the best guns in the game.
Fusil Varmint
Price $72
This one isn't ideal for combat at all; the reason it is here because it is the best shotgun for small game hunting. It's cheap and does the job; I hope you like squirrel meat.
Springfield rifle
Price: 156
The Springfield is a lethal rifle and one of the most deadly currently in the game, plus its price is relatively decent. Additionally, with the Rolling Block, this rifle rules out mid to long range combat, especially in PVP. A Springfield is also one of the best choices for a shotgun, but be sure to hit because you won't get another chance because it's a single shot.
Fusil Rolling Block
Price: 411 $
Probably the Western equivalent of an Anti-Material Rifle, the Rolling Block Rifle rules long-range combat. When used by the right person, they immediately become an instant killing machine; I myself have killed many rival players with this beautiful rifle, sometimes even in 1v4 situations.
It's also my favorite for hunting large animals, as it simply can't be beat for practicality. Although, admittedly, the price is a little steep, so like with a few other weapons on this list, you're in for a heck of a fuss when you hit Rank 13.
Carcano rifle
Price: 456 $
As for the final pistol for rifles, I chose the Carcano rifle, largely due to the fact that it's essentially a better bolt action. Both superior in range, accuracy, and damage, the Carcano Rifle should be a rifle to consider for your next late-game rifle purchase.
However, the weapon is more or less suitable for dealing with other players, and the price is also a bit steep. That said, if you want the Carcano, you'll need to grind up to Rank 50.
Best shotguns
Shotguns are Red Dead Online's best weapon for close combat, and if you're armed with them, you can instantly make players or NPCs regret getting close to you.
Semi-automatic shotgun
Price: 540 $
You can't go wrong with any shotgun in the game, as almost all of them are deadly in close combat. However, some are a bit better than others, so for that reason, you'll only find two on our list.
The semi-automatic shotgun, for example, is indeed a semi-automatic shotgun, and is therefore one of the fastest and deadliest shotguns in the game. For this reason, it should be one of your go-to for up-close fights, but you'll have to wait until Rank 42 to unlock it.
Repeating Rifle
Price: 434 $
The Repeating Shotgun is a very decent and deadly gun that players with high PVP focus should consider adding to their arsenal. Beyond that I would advise against it as you can get away with enough just using the pump and saving for the semi. It's also a pretty high price to pay at rank 11.
After that last shotgun, that will be it for this guide. If you still need more knowledge about Red Dead Online and the story mode, we have a ton of news and guides on the game page here.
