We hadn't heard from Company of Heroes 3 for several months now, in April to be exact, when Relic Entertainment told us about the authenticity of the war in a dev diary. The Canadian studio is back this time to tell us about a major gameplay element of the game: destruction. Always with this in mind to be as realistic as possible, Relic Entertainment explains that a new destruction system has been developed internally to make the debris more realistic. We learn that the 3D objects of each building have been fragmented and the materials react as in real life, such as wood and brick for example. We learn that it was a real challenge for the development team, since this new system required a lot of time and effort, involving 3D technicians as well as programmers or tech-artists. Proud of their work, the developers even added that they are sure that players will use the tactical break to play with the camera and enjoy all this destruction. But these realistically collapsing buildings are not only there to enhance the visual aspect, it is also possible to take advantage of this debris to take cover in particular.
The release of Company of Heroes 3 is still not known, however... We are patient.
