Only a month before its release, Company of Heroes 3 announces its last minute postponement. Relic Entertainment's game will not be available on November 17, 2022 as planned for several months, but on February 23, 2023. An additional four-month postponement that the developers also welcome, thanking their community who allowed them to correct many errors by their many feedbacks. Indeed, since the announcement of the game in July 2021, the Relic studio has been using the CoH-Development community platform to collect feedback from the public on all aspects of the game. Justin Dowdeswell, General Manager for Relic Entertainment wanted to put forward the public for this long-term work:
Working with the CoH-Dev community over the past few years has been a particularly rewarding experience, and we are extremely grateful for all of their contributions to CoH3 so far. We want to provide the most complete and immersive gaming experience in the history of the license, and that's why we need some extra time to fix bugs, balance and polish the game to ensure players and players the best possible experience at launch.
Relic Entertainment takes the opportunity to explain that many requested features, improvements and adjustments have been implemented in the game and the list has been revealed:
- Relic has improved the Dynamic Campaign Map significantly, including updating its new supply system, implementing more aggressive AI, and providing faster travel across the map, thanks to port and airport improvements .
- The studio focused on fine-tuning the visual grain and small visual details of the battlefield, specifically by improving shader technology and spending a lot of time improving rendering. Significant changes have also been made to the general lighting of CoH3.
- Relic improved the gameplay by working on the positioning of the camera and clarifying the information given by the mini-map. The user interface as a whole has also benefited greatly from community feedback.
- Community experiments with the multiplayer Pre-Alpha in November 2021 allowed the studio to greatly improve the tactical groups and their improvement trees, but also the units and grouping abilities.
- Relic has reviewed and corrected some voice acting to ensure maximum authenticity for specific characters, with particular emphasis on accents.
What reassure the players who will therefore wait four more months with a smile to be sure to have the game he deserves, that is to say improved, balanced and adjusted.
