Square Enix has kept its word. Indeed, last September, during the Tokyo Game Show 2022, Naoki Yoshida (the producer of Final Fantasy XVI) had indicated that a new trailer would be unveiled during the month of October. It is now done, the video offering an overview of the world of Valisthéa as well as the characters that we will meet there. Moreover, today's sequence allows us to get to know the Emissaries of Bahamut and Odin better, namely Dion Lesage (the crown prince of the Sangbreque nation) and Barnabas Tharmr (the ruler of the Kingdom of Valoed).
With the Archduchy of Rosalia, the Crystal Dominion, the Iron Kingdom and the Republic of Dalmequia, these are six regions that we will have to explore, each of them containing a Mother Crystal. As for the Primordials - considered the most powerful entities of Valisthea - they reside precisely in the body of the Emissaries who cannot escape their destiny, whether they are treated as superior beings or manipulated into war machines. Between geopolitics, creatures of disproportionate proportions and nervous gameplay, Final Fantasy XVI promises to be particularly strong.
"The development process has reached its peak, and we are moving forward with testing and various adjustments, adds Yoshida-san on PlayStation Blog. We are in the process of making the latest improvements, and we are still optimizing the game. Soon we will reveal more about the world of Final Fantasy XVI!" For the record, the release of the game is scheduled for the summer of 2023 on PS5.
