Naoki Yoshida recently declared that the development of Final Fantasy XVI was entering “its final phase”, knowing that last December he had already announced that a new trailer for the game could probably be unveiled during the spring. Here we are, which probably explains why during a recent stream devoted to the mobile game NieR Re[in]carnation, the producer was asked about the subject. And he did not run away, since he confirmed (in comments reported by Siliconera) that a new video was going to be published “soon”. He even pointed out that it should have already been the case, but that due to various external factors, the broadcast was delayed.
He also pointed out that the teams were working hard to polish the game and debug what needed to be, and that the end of the tunnel was near. For the record, Final Fantasy XVI was announced exclusively for PS5 a year and a half ago now (September 2020). As part of the series' 35th anniversary, Square Enix has teamed up with Uniqlo to design a range of t-shirts featuring each of the canonical episodes. No doubt many fans will give in to temptation.
