While it was supposed to land on October 11 on PC and PS5, finally, Forspoken will not arrive before January 24, 2023. This is indeed what Square Enix announces through an official press release. "After discussions with partners, we have made the strategic decision to postpone the release of Forspoken to January 24, 2023, we can read. All elements of the game are now complete, development has entered the final adjustment phase. "We would like to thank you for your patience and support throughout this journey. This enthusiasm for the game inspires us every day, and we look forward to showing you more of Forspoken this summer!"
We will therefore have the opportunity to review the game during the summer period, perhaps within the framework of gamescom 2022 which, as we recall, will take place from 24 to 28 in Cologne. Unless the publisher opts for a dedicated "conference" as has now become the norm. In any case, last May, Square Enix had already spoken of "optimization" when postponing the release of the game to October 11 precisely. We don't know if the site has since fallen behind schedule, but it's also not impossible that the house doesn't want to rub shoulders with the usual end-of-year hits. Hence the famous "strategic decision" mentioned.
