Ghost Recon Breakpoint: there will be no follow-up, Ubisoft ends the game and explains

Released on October 4, 2019, Ghost Recon Breakpoint unfortunately did not experience the success expected by Ubisoft. Episode to say the least controversial with its concept based on game-service and micro-transactions, it also disappointed in terms of gameplay, graphics and writing, so much so that the specialized press sanctioned it on its release with 56% average on Metacritic, while players were more severe in giving it a very poor rating of 3/10. Critical and commercial failure, Ghost Recon Breakpoint nevertheless had the support of Ubisoft, which nevertheless continued to supply its game with regular updates. The latest unfortunately did not help to restore the image of the series, with the integration of NFT, very badly perceived by the players. Also, after 11 updates, Ubisoft declares that the follow-up of the game ends and that now, the development is completely finished. Of course, the servers will remain active and players can continue to have fun, and the developers obviously left a note for the community that has supported them throughout these 2 and a half years of longevity.

First, we want to thank you for all the love and support you've given the game. Over the past two years, we've released over 11 updates and supported several unique initiatives. Whether it's for the Ghost Experience, the return of allied AI, Special Ops with Sam Fisher, the collaboration with R6 operators dedicated to Operation Amber Sky, and finally our "plant a tree" project, we have worked hard to add additional content to Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

At this stage, it is impossible to know if Ubisoft intends to produce a new Ghost Recon, or rather to leave the license fallow to come back later with new, fresher ideas and above all in line with the desires of the public. Still, the bleeding is stopped.
