While rumors around a release date around September 2022 multiplied a few months ago, on the side of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studios, it is the most total radio silence around God of War Ragnarok. It is true that since September 2021 and the latest trailer to date, Kratos and Atreus have been waiting. However, on this date of April 20, 2022, Cory Barlog (the game director of the first episode, and now producer on its Ragnarök sequel) decided to speak in front of the camera and address the players and the community. He recalls to begin with that it has been 4 years to the day that the reboot of GOD OF WAR was born on PS4, and he continues very quickly with apologies for the lack of communication around God of War Ragnarök.
Barlog nevertheless wants to be reassuring, explaining that the whole team is working hard to ensure that the result lives up to our expectations and what was done with the first episode. Cory Barlog also teases by telling us that "something cool is coming", still asking for a little patience before revealing something concrete with probably a big new gameplay phase. Still, he tells us that the wait is not very long, which leads us to believe that the rumors around a scheduled release this year seem more plausible than ever.
4 years ago, God of War (2018) released! We’re grateful to all of you who joined Kratos and Atreus on their journey, and we’re so proud of the team who worked to bring it to life.
While we’re not ready to share an update about what comes next, here’s a quick message from Cory! pic.twitter.com/Z5PHpKQppY
