Horizon 2: Forbidden West may have been available since February 18, but that doesn't stop Sony Interactive Entertainment from adding a layer of it with a 4K gameplay video made on PS4 Pro. A sequence of 1 minute 30 which allows to see some of the environments, before focusing on Aloy and the machines that she must fight - knowing that new species have been introduced since the first episode. Beyond the beauty of the graphics, this trailer is particularly interesting because it reminds us why the developers have chosen to do without the lock during the clashes. Indeed, we can see the heroine shoot an arrow at a creature before drawing her grappling hook to reach a ledge and climb on her flying mount. A freedom in the movements which becomes one cannot more exhilarating when one knows the places perfectly.
In an interview with our colleagues from Engadget, Mathijs de Jonge (director) and Michiel van der Leeuw (technical director) had confided that they had to slow down the loading times on PS5. "In Horizon Zero Dawn, we called it fast travel, but it could take maybe a minute to load, they explained. With the PS5, it's maybe four or five seconds. Loading is so fast that players can't even read the hints, so we had to add a very simple feature where the game hangs on the loading screen for long enough that you can actually read at least one hint while it's loading. Of course, people who want to speed things up can just press X or disable this pause in the settings so the game loads faster."
For the record, our Horizon 2: Forbidden West test is available at this address.
