There will be no co-op or multiplayer mode in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy game. Square Enix gave this project to Eidos Montreal, who said they had no plans to do it in co-op or multiplayer mode.
This was revealed shortly after the game was announced. Guardians of the Galaxy Senior Creative Director Jean-François Dugas said in an interview with IGN:
“We started discussing different opportunities like multiplayer or co-op. But we were really looking at what Guardians of the Galaxy is, and it's all about those characters. It's about colorful personalities that clash and sometimes get along. It is a mixture of all these things, their qualities, their faults. And we thought, “It would be really awesome if you could be one of the Guardians and put yourself in the center of it all to be surrounded by these characters. And that's how it happened. »

It's a bit heartbreaking for many fans of the game, but the above quote explains his reasoning. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy seem to take a different approach than Marvel's Avengers.
