John Wick: Lionsgate aims to develop a license-based AAA

Lionsgate has the ambition to develop an AAA based on the John Wick license. This is indeed what Chairman Jon Feltheimer said during a conference call with investors. And a priori, it would not be just a simple fantasy since proposals would have been made. “I don't want to go too far, but we think that an AAA based on John Wick could be developed, he explained in particular in remarks reported by IndieWire. We have made proposals. a project that we would like to take forward but I do not wish to say more at this time."



For the record, there is already a video game based on the John Wick saga: John Wick Hex. Released in 2019 on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch, it had a number of good qualities although many gamers regretted that it didn't follow in Max Payne's footsteps when it came to gameplay. Of course, the John Wick mentioned by Jon Feltheimer will have quite different objectives, especially financially.

In any case, we remind you that John Wick 4 will be released on March 22, 2023, knowing that a spin-off called Ballerina is also in preparation and will feature Ana de Arma. Let's not forget the prequel The Continental, a series that will return to the origins of the famous hotel and will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video. Mel Gibson (Cormac) and Colin Woodell (Winston Scott) appear in particular in the cast, without it being known for the moment if Keanu Reeves is expected to make an appearance. Admittedly, the events will take place 40 years before those of John Wick, but the writers have already shown in the past that with them, everything was to be expected. The Continental is also expected to land next year.
