The Aviary in Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a new type of enclosure that allows you to synthesize and hatch flying dinosaurs like Pteranodon and Dimorphodon. But setting one up and running it with a hatchery and feeders can be a real pain. Building them incorrectly can make it look like there's something wrong in your way.
This Jurassic World Evolution 2 Aviary Quick Guide will tell you everything you need to know to get flying dinosaurs into your park to increase your park's overall rating and appeal.
How to Unlock Aviary in Jurassic World Evolution 2
To build the aviary in Jurassic World Evolution 2, you must first research it. The Aviary becomes available fairly early in Chaos Theory and Challenge modes, and if you play through the campaign, you'll build it in the Oregon mission.
The research node for the aviary can be found under Research -> Welfare -> Dinosaur Creation. After researching the general hatchery, you will have access to the second level of options in this menu. The aviary is the top node with the dome and three dinosaur eggs. Once you research, the Aviary Dome and Aviary Hatchery can be built through the Pen menu.
Note: You cannot synthesize or release flying dinosaurs from normal hatcheries.
How to build an aviary
Each aviary dome costs $100 to build and can be built to any design you choose; Unlike other buildings in Jurassic World Evolution 000, the Aviary is modular in design. When placing a dome, you will see arrows that indicate where other domes, hatcheries, and viewing galleries can be attached.
For maximum dinosaur comfort, you will need to build more than one dome. It is recommended to start with at least three as this gives you plenty of room to add water, forest, feeders and rocks.
If aviaries are built too small, it can be nearly impossible to place a fish feeder, making the game look like it is faulty. The feeder will still be red and you will get the “clogged” error message.
Fish feeders should be built in shallow water and their foundation radii can easily clash with those of domes, hatcheries and viewing galleries if built too close.
If you continue to receive this message and cannot place a feeder, add more water, expand the aviary itself, or move the feeder through the water while constantly pressing the placement button. You may get lucky and find a great spot.
Then add rocks, forest or sand depending on which flying dinosaur(s) you want to add.
Be sure to assign a team of rangers to each aviary hatchery to keep an eye on your dinosaurs and the enclosure. Fish feeders are prone to E. Coli infections and you will need to disinfect them promptly.
Like fencing for other types of enclosures, aviary domes can be damaged by dinosaurs and storms. Use Ranger teams to repair damaged areas, and consider researching storm defense upgrades in the infrastructure research tab. Tranquilizing and transporting escaped flying dinosaurs is the same as other dinosaurs if there are any that are escaping.
Needs of flying dinosaurs
Like all dinosaurs in Jurassic World Evolution 2, each of the game's flying dinosaurs has specific needs that must be met in order for them to be comfortable. Only three have likes and dislikes of cohabitation.
