If you've been looking for a way to improve your skills as a pet owner, you've come to the right place. Our My Talking Tom Friends guide will help teach you the basics of the new sim which, as the name suggests, sees Talking Tom and his friends move in together so they can play games, eat their favorite foods, and sleep many .
It's a simplistic and minimal experience, but that's by design. This is not for the Call of Duty: Mobile or Mobile Legends players among you. It's for those who enjoy more laid-back experiences like The Sims or Animal Crossing. Your main concern here is the welfare and happiness of your pets; though sometimes it might make little sense, like hitting Tom over the head with a plastic mallet to cure dizziness.
These discrepancies aside, if you want to take better care of your pets, we can help you do that. This My Talking Tom Friends guide will help you keep your pets happy and healthy, unlock stuff faster, and more.
my talking friends guide - how to take care of your pets:
How do I keep my pets happy and healthy?
The same rules apply in My Talking Tom Friends as in real life: keep them entertained, well fed and rested, and make sure they sleep well. However, this is not real life. We can't imagine your pet dog wanting to ride a skateboard or sing a song, and you're going to have to deal with a lot here.
Here are some tips to help you make sure they're always in top condition:
Their thought bubbles will tell you what they want
Your pets are pretty good at telling you what they want and keeping busy, so it's rarely hard to figure it out. In fact, you just need to take a look at the bubbles that appear above their heads, as they will give you an indication of what they want to do at any given time.
They can display another pet they want to chat with or display a football icon, indicating that they want to play with the football. Either way, simply drag your pet to the friend or object they want to interact with and drop the pet onto that object.
You can even speed up this process by tapping on the thought bubble itself, which will teleport your pet directly to the item it wishes to interact with. It is convenient.
Pay attention to the red bubbles, because they are urgent
It is important to note that there are two types of thought bubbles: regular and red. Regular thought bubbles were detailed in the previous section and pretty much reveal your pet's needs at all times.
But what about their needs? Well, that's where the red thought bubbles come in. These are a bit more urgent, as they indicate that your pet is tired, needs to eat, wants to wash up, or needs a toilet. You can't really leave them waiting when these icons appear, so you have to react.
Luckily, the same rules apply in that you can tap the bubble above their head to quickly teleport to whatever item they need to interact with. We highly recommend doing this when a red bubble appears, but we're not entirely sure of the consequences if you don't.
Use the convenient button at the bottom right of the screen to check on your pets
The button at the bottom right of the screen provides a very convenient way to quickly check in on your pets, and we strongly encourage you to use it as often as possible.
Tap on your pets and peek into their thought bubbles to see if they have something to do or are busy. Ideally, you want them all to be busy at some point, but we'll see why soon.
Scan the house for any potential issues
Your pets won't always alert you to potential problems; at least quickly. There may be litter lying around, for example, which may pose a health risk. Fortunately, you can simply assign an animal to the problem to solve it.
It's always worth sweeping from left to right through the house to see if there's anything quite wrong, and to fix it as quickly as possible.
How to progress effectively?
In this section, we are going to focus on efficiency in My Talking Tom Friends. We've got a bunch of tips to help you progress faster, unlocking all the toys, costumes, and more.
Travel as much as possible
Progression in My Talking Tom Friends is tied to bus travel, which takes you to several different destinations, although there doesn't appear to be any real difference between them.
Each destination appears to be identical, with your pets running around a store and grabbing five free goodies. These are toys, food, and various other items that allow you to progress.
But how do you unlock road trips? Well, you just do stuff. Most of the activities your pets can do provide you with currency with a bus. Collect enough of them and you can send them on an adventure to get all the rewards.
Track the growth of your pets
Each animal can get three stars in five different areas:
- Puzzles: We assume this relates to activities like playing snakes and ladders and interacting with the microscope
- Football: this is probably an indicator of their level in sports, such as playing football and basketball
- Kitchen: this speaks for itself
- Socialize: Talking and playing with your companions will improve this
- Art: this is probably a sign of creativity, and probably includes playing instruments and drawing stuff
You can follow the progress of your animals on the blackboard. If an animal is not doing anything at some point, check where it needs to improve and ask it to do a related activity. It unlocks new costumes and more.
Watch ads to get free stuff and speed up activities
See that robot vacuum that makes sure the house is always in tip-top shape? Well, if you tap on it, you can watch an advertisement. If you watch it to the end, you can spin to get a free reward. We watched about 12 ads using this method, and we could keep watching more. So it's not clear if there is a limit to the number of ads you can watch.
You can also watch ads to speed up your pets' activities, from playing with toys to sleeping. The latter is probably the one you'll want to avoid, as it can take a while for your pets to wake up and you won't progress as quickly while they're sleeping.
Place toys in your home to give your pets more options
As you progress, you'll unlock new toys that you can place around the house to give your pets more options for activities. These range from soccer balls to basketball hoops and microscopes. Every time you unlock a new item, we highly recommend placing it around the house to ensure your pets always have new items to play with and no one is left with nothing to do.
Unlock new pets
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for unlocking new pets, so we can't really help you achieve that. What we do know is that this happens quite often while playing, so we can only assume that the more activities your pets perform, the faster you'll unlock a potential new pet.
Why is this important? Well, more pets means you can do more activities at once, which means more rewards faster.
Play mini games for extra rewards
Most of your pets' activities have mini-games that you can play for extra rewards. This includes a Guitar Hero-like mini-game, a basketball, snakes and ladders, and more.
Many of these minigames feature many different levels, including more complex 'Pro' variants. They're a lot of fun, so we recommend diving into them whenever you have nothing to do as there are plenty of rewards to earn.
In the living room, you can tap the console to quickly view all unlocked minigames at any time and play them from there.
Buy cosmetic items
As you play, you'll earn gold coins that you can spend on cosmetic items for your home. Usually it's just interactive objects in different colors, like bed, wardrobe, etc. Find something that suits your style.
