This announcement, no one saw it coming. While EVO 2022 is slowly ending on the Las Vegas side, SNK had kept a few announcements on hand, just to close the event as it should. Without warning, the Japanese publisher reveals to us that the development of a new episode of Fatal Fury has been launched. An announcement greeted with immense joy, especially by NeoGeo owners who have been waiting for this day for 23 years, since the last episode to date, Garou Mark of the Wolves, was released on NeoGeo in 1999. Moreover, SNK does not yet formalize the name of the game, and calls it for the moment New Fatal Fury / Garou, but taking into account the innumerable clues left by SNK, there is a good chance that it will be a sequel to one of the best 2D fighting games ever created.
In the teaser trailer that accompanies this reveal, we observe that it is Rock Howard who is put forward, he who was the main character of the first Mark of the Wolves, Terry Bogard having been placed as a mentor with his new costume. Another detail that does not deceive: the choice of music that accompanies the video: "Sunrise on the Train", which is none other than the musical theme of Terry Bogard in Garou Mark of the Wolves. We then notice that the illustration is signed Tonko, an artist who has worked with SNK for many years and who signed the DA of the first Garou Mark of the Wolves. And when you know how much SNK wants to reconnect with its partners of yesteryear, it does not lie. And finally, Yasuyuki Oda, the man who allowed SNK to regain its nobility, has always said loud and clear that he will do everything possible to make a sequel to Mark of the Wolves, but also to The Last Blade. 2. However, there is one last clue that fans will have noticed: in addition to the silhouette of Billy Kane, we can also see that of Kain R. Heinlein, the last boss who will undoubtedly be part of the cast. What to say that it is indeed Garou Mark of the Wolves who arrives, which will also join the call of the foot of Lizardcube to SNK in January 2021…
