If gamescom 2022 had the first of the reveal of New Tales From the Borderlands 15 days ago, it was on the other hand the PAX West 2022 which unveiled the first gameplay sequences of the new game from Gearbox Software and 2K Games. No less than 18 minutes of pure gamepay shared on the game's YouTube channel, allowing you to get to know this new trio of characters. There's Anu the altruistic scientist, Octavio his ambitious brother with a certain gab and Fran the ferocious ice thrower, and all three embark on a mission of infiltration in the sewers. Very quickly, we realize that the game is full of mini-games such as Vaultlander fights, collectible figurines in the game bearing the image of cult characters, and who will have skills to evolve to win each confrontation. A rather new and original approach which contrasts with the other phases of the game, often in QTE with narrative choices supposed to have impacts on the rest of the story.
The release of New Tales From the Borderlands is set for October 21, 2022 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.
