Next-gen systems get a taste of farm freshness when Kitaria Fables mixes RPG-farm-simulation releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S later in 2021. The game is also slated for release on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
Like Rune Factory, Kitaria Fables combines RPG elements with traditional farm simulation mechanics. The player wakes up at his uncle's Thunderbunn farm in Paw Village, but like Rune Factory, farm building and relationship building are only part of the daily routine. Once the crops are healed, it's time to hit the dungeons.
Kitaria Fables features real-time action combat, where the strength of equipment and player-crafted items play an important role in how battles unfold. Particular emphasis is placed on prep work – gathering items and hitting the shops before you go – and even the magic has to be forged at the local forge.
Relationships maintained with other villagers also help determine certain stats and the bonus rewards the player gets. However, it's unclear if Kitaria Fables includes romance and wedding options.
Kitaria Fables is due out sometime later in 2021.
