It's no longer a secret that China is the new video game El Dorado. Between the emerging studios and the giants who are buying up Western and Japanese studios and talents, the country of Xi Jinping wants to position itself as the new cornerstone of global gaming. A new game has just been announced, a certain Project The Perceiver, unveiled in a long 7-minute video that alternates between cutscenes and gameplay sequences. Developed on several platforms, the game is confirmed for the moment on PC, PS5 and PS4 and is obviously reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima in its structure and way of doing things. Open-world action-RPG, Project The Perceiver will transport us to a fantasy world set in the Tianhu period of the Xuantang dynasty. In the countryside, a bizarre entity has been discovered, with an unusual color and an impossible shape to describe.
On the gameplay side, Project The Perceiver promises very fluid climbing, dynamic sword fights, with dodges and counterattacks that look promising. More advanced confrontations with "bosses" also recall the game of Sucker Punch, while integrating elements related to FromSoftware productions. Platform sequences also seem promised, with very pretty effects where fantasy mixes with this dystopian reality. The end of the trailer allows us to see that the character is able to change identity depending on the mask he wears. A clever way to swap characters over the course of the adventure and take advantage of each person's skills. No release date has been announced for the moment, the projects coming from China obviously taking a long time to be refined.
