It was the most anticipated info in the industry for months, it's now official, Sony has just announced the release date of its PS5, as well as the price of the two models. There is good news, and bad news. Unsurprisingly, the Japanese firm has decided to match the price of Microsoft's Xbox Series X for its PS5 with drive, which will therefore be offered at a price of €499.99. Regarding the PS5 Digital Edition, without a blu-ray player, the price is much more attractive since the machine is displayed at 399.99€, i.e. 100€ less, but everyone knows that a Blu-Ray player is not displayed at this price. This choice also demonstrates Sony's desire to offer a machine that will push players to move towards dematerialized which is, let's not forget, the most profitable solution for brands.
This Digital Edition model at €399.99 is also a great tactical choice, because it allows you to place the console between the top of the range (classic PS5, Series X) and the Series S displayed at €299, but whose performance is lower. For 100€ more, we therefore have access to a model worthy of the big ones, and the only consideration requested is to free ourselves from games in physical format. In our opinion, it is this machine and its softer price that could prove to be the most dangerous for Microsoft.
The bad news, because it takes one, concerns the release date. Indeed, if the PS5 will be released on November 12 in North America, Oceania and South Korea, the rest of the world including Spain will have to wait one more week, i.e. until November 19, 2020. This date will also allow Microsoft to take advantage of a few days in advance, the Xbox Series S / X being scheduled for November 10, regardless of where you live.
