Even though samurai games have been around for ages, Ghost of Tsushima has redefined the genre, you have to admit. With its enchanting world, its open world full of quests and activities, its horseback riding, its super classy saber fights and its main character who was just waiting to emancipate himself, the Sucker Punch game was able to relaunch the interest around these lost ronins. It is from this premise that Team Ninja decided to put together this Rise of the Ninja, revealed for the first time during the State of Play ahead of the Tokyo Game Show 2022. In less than two minutes the reveal lasts trailer, we understand the ambitions of this open world which will place its history in 1863, in the heart of feudal Japan, during the Bakumatsu period, where the smell of chaos is more and more palpable. Between the diseases, the oppression of the leaders, the pro and anti Shogun clans and the Western influence, we are on the verge of civil war. We will suddenly find ourselves at the controls of a ronin who has mastered the art of assassination in all its forms. In addition to the katanas which are used to cut off very clean heads, we can also count on firearms, the difference between this Rise of the Ronin and a Ghost of Tsushima. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja reveal it's the studio's most ambitious project, it's been 7 years since the project started (not development though) and it will be an upcoming PS5 exclusive for 2024. If all goes well...
