SEGA: reboots of Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi would be in preparation, 1st details

After having obtained good results at the box office with the cinematographic adaptations of Sonic, SEGA would intend to bring to the cinema Streets of Rage - one of its other flagship series which rocked the youth of quite a few gamers in the 90s - as we learned this morning via Deadline. Even if the Japanese publisher seems to appreciate the dark rooms, he does not forget the video game. Indeed, if we are to believe the latest indiscretions from Bloomberg, the Haneda firm is currently working on two reboots of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio, two titles that marked the existence of the Dreamcast.

According to our colleagues, the two games would be part of the famous “Super Game” project that we told you about last week. Internally, nothing would be set in stone yet and a cancellation cannot be ruled out, at least with regard to the reboot of Jet Set Radio. Because for that of Crazy Taxi, the construction site would have started more than a year ago, with the objective of a release in 2024 or 2025. Anyway, Fortnite would serve as an example to follow for its ability to generate significant income on a regular basis, its presence on various platforms, and its community which counts millions of users.

For the record, SEGA has specified that a production called "Super Game" would necessarily have AAA ambitions. Moreover, as Bloomberg rightly points out, a "Super Game" FPS is in development: the publisher is aiming for 100 billion yen in revenue over the game's life cycle, or more than 720 million euros.
