Sonic Frontiers: the game director hears the critics of the press and the feedback of the players
With 72% average obtained on Metacritic, Sonic Frontiers is, we can say, a small disappointment. Despite some encouraging tests, a good part of the press and players were disappointed by the overall rendering of the first open world game with SEGA's blue hedgehog. It must be said that since the first gameplay videos, opinions were already well divided, and the final result unfortunately did not thwart the predictions. An empty and meaningless open world, redundant gameplay mechanics, enemies and bosses without any personality, unpleasant missions, the fall was tough for SEGA, which accepts criticism and feedback from players. In a tweet posted by Morio Kishimoto, the game's game director, there is still a long way to go to obtain a convincing result. According to him, this Sonic Frontiers should be considered a large-scale test phase, although this kind of talk is not really acceptable for a license of Sonic's caliber.

I'm sorry that I haven't updated, but I've been very busy since the game was released. I'm relieved that the game has finally been released and that everyone was able to receive it without any worries. We are currently reading reviews and opinions from everyone. As you pointed out, we still have a long way to go, and we consider this to be a global test that we take very seriously.

What are we to understand by these words? That SEGA intends to invest in this Sonic open world and that it is undoubtedly the first of a long line. The Japanese publisher obviously intends to catch up with the competition and a certain Mario who was able to adapt brilliantly to 3D in 1997 with the first Super Mario 64. Let's hope that the sequel is of better quality.
