We've been keeping tabs on the System Shock Remake since the time of its 2016 Kickstarter campaign. Since then, a lot has happened with the Nightdive reboot, including several delays and a full reboot of development.

The studio released a new trailer over the weekend during the Guerilla Collective Showcase. The trailer is quite short, but it gives fans a good look at the game. There's a lot of shooting, a lot of explosions, and a lot of mutant hits. You can see it all in the trailer above.

An alpha demo of the game is currently available via Steam and Good Old Games (GOG), although the duration is unclear. We were able to try out the pre-alpha demo that was available during Steam's Games Festival in December and had mixed feelings. Ty Arthur said:

In the end, I didn't come out either excited or too disappointed after playing the demo. My instinct? If the development team doesn't run out of money and actually releases a finished product, I think everything will be fine. But we will have to see.

The System Shock Remake is currently in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It shouldn't be confused with System Shock 3, which is the sequel to (gaspingly) System Shock 2. Tencent is now working on that game, and it's unclear when it will be released or which platforms it will ultimately call home.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more on the System Shock franchise as we learn more. Check out the demo on GOG and Steam.
