Giant Squid took advantage of the Annapurna Interactive Showcase 2022, held yesterday, to announce the porting of The Pathless to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and Switch. No release date has been specified, but the studio has promised that the title will land during next winter. We remind you that The Pathless has been available on PS4, PS5 and the Epic Games Store since November 2020, and on Steam since November 2021.
For the record, the game asks you to embody a Huntress whose mission is to put an end to the dark curse that has befallen the world. In particular, she can count on the help of her eagle to move around in the open-world, which breaks free from the usual codes of the open world.
"We wanted to encourage players to organically explore, to develop their understanding of the space they're playing in, and that's what prompted us to break, on a number of key points, with what is done in most conventional open worlds: there's no fast travel, no map and no game over, creative director Matt Nava said during State of Play in August 2020. These common elements work wonderfully in many games, but they tend to take you out of universe to remind you that you're playing a game, and that didn't sit well with us." Nevertheless, the heroine has at her disposal a magic mask indicating places already explored and distant points of interest.
