I believe that for Gorr, they were looking for an actor who would be his antithesis (to Thor, editor's note). We needed someone lonely, who you don't want to sympathize with and whose butt you don't want to see, and I think they were like, yeah, that's a role for Bale.
Christian Bale is ironic indeed on the famous scene where Zeus (embodied on the screen by Russel Crowe) completely undresses Thor who finds himself naked in front of the assembly. If the buttocks of Chris Hemsworth are blurred in the trailer, they are on the other hand perfectly visible in the film, we confirm it to you. For Chris Hemsworth, showing his buttocks was also a real pleasure, especially since until now, it was Captain America's behind that was always put forward, with the famous "That's America's ass!" we hear in Avengers Endgame. In the process, Christian Bale also explained that Gorr also has a trajectory which forces him to sink to the dark side of the force and that his reasons could well give him some sympathy.
Everyone is fascinated by bad guys, it's pretty immediate. But the good thing is that Taika is able to make things hilarious and then emotional right after. Besides, I don't know if we can talk about sympathy, but we understand why Gorr makes these terrible decisions. He is certainly a monster and a butcher, but we understand why he has become like this.
It remains to be seen whether the public will adhere to this different vision of the character of Gorr, quite far from what he is in the comic books. Response on July 13.
