Announced at the end of the Epic Game Show last April, the next episode of Tomb Raider will be developed with the Unreal Engine 5 engine, and therefore entirely dedicated to the next gen consoles that are the PS5 and the Xbox Series. If we know that the game will not be released under the edition of Square Enix, which has detached itself from all its Western licenses, it is still the Crystal Dynamics studio which is at work to breathe new life into License. If the project is still very mysterious, the “Sacred Symbol” podcast has leaked a few snippets of the scenario, which also reveals some gameplay elements. Obviously, all this is to be put in the conditional, but these rumors make it possible to put the finger on probable evolutions for the series. We learn to begin with that the game would bear the code name "Project Jawbreaker" (literally "The Project that takes the jaw off) and that the leaked scenario would have been given to the actors who would participate in the performance capture. Lara Croft, now the in his thirties, would be at the head of a team of archaeologists, will have to face a threat of global magnitude, following a cataclysm. The names of characters, Devendra and Tanvi, are mentioned as being Lara's playmates Croft, which would mean that a co-op mode would be in sight.
Another element related to the story of the game and which made the players react strongly, even to the point of creating a controversy, is that it is indicated "romantic sequences with another female character". In other words, Lara Croft could possibly have a homosexual relationship with another character during the adventure. Negative comments about this rumor were quick to emerge on social networks, explaining that the Tomb Raider license is also a victim of this "woke" movement that some violently reject. Personally, we don't say no for a Steve Raider version of Tomb Raider (see photos below). Finally, to end, know that the “Sacred Symbol” podcast also indicates that the production is currently looking for a new actress to play the new Lara Croft, with a British profile with a physical close to Emily Blunt or Rosamund Pike. We recall that on the cinema side, the actress Alicia Vikander seems to have been dismissed after the MGM lost the exploitation rights of the license and the sequel Tomb Raider 2 seems compromised.
