The Home and Hearth update has just launched and, with its arrival, brings a whole host of new content to Viking survival simulator Valheim. Here's a quick rundown of what to expect in this new update.
Tons of new weapons and items have been added to give players extra things to use and fight against the many creatures lurking in the forest and swamps.

But weapons aren't the only thing the developers added. In fact, many crafting buildings have also been added, such as the cartography table and the furnace.
Players can also now build Darkwood and Crystal structures that will allow them to vary their bases in new ways. Along with new structures, many bug fixes and gameplay improvements have also been added, along with 12 new cooking recipes and a complete food overhaul. General improvements
- Rebalanced Weapons (All weapons have been rebalanced to be more viable as a primary weapon and also have more unique playstyles).
- Revised blocking system (current maximum HP now greatly affects your ability to block attacks, added offset bar GUI).
- Name tamed creatures.
- Gamepad sensitivity settings.
- Added auto pickup toggle button.
- Graphics settings (active point lights and active point light shadows).
- Tamed creatures affected by friendly fire (i.e. you cannot damage a tamed creature unless you activate friendly fire or use the new Butcher Knife item).
- Various other improvements and bugfixes.
Food
- Food rebalancing (Most foods now give mostly stamina or mostly health to make food choices more interesting).
- Revamped Food GUI to work better with rebalanced food.
- Over 10 new things to eat (actually 12).
World
- Tamed Lox now has a goal.
- Slime locations and mobs added to plains.
- New plantable seeds: Birch, Oak and Onions.

- New Weapons: Crystal Battle Axe, Silver Knife.
- New shields: Bone Tower Shield, Iron Shield.
- Butcher knife (Special weapon for slaughtering tamed animals).
- Thunder Stone (Sold by Trader).
- Lox accessory.
Building
- New Darkwood building pieces like shingle roofs, beams, decorations and more.
- New types of furniture, including but not limited to a mighty stone throne and a steamy Viking hot tub.

- Map table (for sharing map data with other players).
- Oven added (For baking bread and pie).
