War in Ukraine: a developer of Metro Exodus was killed while fighting at the front
Seven months already since the war in Ukraine started and it has also had a considerable impact on video games, and in particular the studios working in the country. Between postponed games, developers forced to move to survive, the conflict has also motivated some developers to go to the front. This is the case of Andrii Korzinkin, known to be one of the heads of the animation division at 4A Games, the studio behind Metro Exodus in particular. We have just learned of his death which occurred last week, while he had gone into battle to protect his country from the Russian invasion. It was Lenoid Stepanov, a recent member of the Remedy Entertainment studio (Max Payne, Alan Wake), and former colleague of Korzinkin with whom he worked on Metro Exodus, who made the news known on Twitter. Lenoid Stepanov took the opportunity to highlight some of Andrii Korzinkin's work that he had shared on his Twitter account. Many developers who have worked with him have left messages paying tribute to him.
Andrii was known for his work at @4AGames on @MetroVideoGame. There he created a huge number of top-quality animations.
