It was to be expected: after World of Warcraft Classic released in 2019, followed by World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic two years later in 2021, Blizzard Entertainment has just formalized the upcoming arrival of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic. The release date has not been specified at this stage of the reveal, but the American publisher promises a neat reissue and reminds that it will be completely free for all players who bought the game in 2008, provided of course have an active subscription to World of Warcraft. It will obviously be to find the frozen lands of Northrend and to find this gameplay which has hoisted this title among the best extensions of the series, without forgetting the charisma and the imposing stature of the Lich King. Blizzard Entertainment takes the opportunity to list all the features that we will find with this WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic:
- Return of the Death Knights: Available to both factions and starting at level 55, Death Knights, World of Warcraft's premier hero class, use the powers of darkness to battle the evil that plagues Azeroth.
- New profession - Calligraphy: this new profession allows you to create mystical glyphs that modify the appearance and properties of spells and techniques, as well as to craft powerful jewelry and off-hand items.
- Unlocked Achievements: Achievements are making an appearance in WoW Classic, and will recognize players' exploits with a series of new rewards.
- Dungeons and Raids: Adventure-seeking souls can relive iconic 5-player dungeons such as Azjol-Nerub and the Purging of Stratholme, and lay siege to Naxxramas in a 10-player raid, a refresh from its 40-player version players present before the release of the expansion.
- Players will also be able to create Death Knights in a content update leading up to the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. The creation of the first death knight will not be subject to any prerequisites or restrictions. (However, to create other death knights on a given server, it will be necessary to have a character of at least level 55.)
- Players who don't have characters ready to face the dangers of Northrend will be able to take advantage of an optional Level 70 Key to the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Further details, including pricing and availability information, will be announced at a later date.
