What impresses in the first place, it is the visual rendering of all the underwater scenes, which proves that we have yet passed a milestone in terms of special effects. We don't know if it's the sometimes mediocre special effects of Marvel films that dampened our critical sense, but with Avatar 2, we are literally bathed in photo-realism. It is indeed difficult to dissociate the real images from the computer-generated images and James Cameron plays with it, by multiplying the scenes which mix real actors and 3D avatars. This is all the more impressive since Avatar 2 has also developed a unique technique of its kind, for which James Cameron is the pioneer: performance capture under water. This means that the actors dive underwater with their suits and cameras to capture all of their movements and facial expressions.

3D, the shock argument of the first Avatar, and of cinema in general in the years following Cameron's film, has more or less disappeared nowadays. But James Camera still sticks to it and it's true that we can't prove him right when we marvel at all the details that come to life and relief at the sight of these incredible underwater sequences. It must be said that the technique has also evolved in 13 years, and the glasses are no longer as restrictive as when they first started, just as they no longer darken the image. But the technique is not the only argument to make us want to go back to see this Avatar 2 La Vioie de l'Eau, the story should also captivate us, with a story centered on the family, that of Sully and Neytiri, now parents. The events of this sequel take place about fifteen years after the first episode, and we will discover not only the children of our hero couple, but also new tribes on Pandora, beings capable of living in the water. We'll tell you more when Disney gives us the green light.
In the meantime, we remind you that the 1st episode, released in 2009, is coming out in theaters this Wednesday, September 21 in a remastered 4K and HDR version, with the possibility of seeing it again in 2D or 3D. The opportunity to redo a classic of cinema, and the biggest success at the world box office.
