Over 20 years after its initial release, Diablo II has made a comeback. This has, of course, led to an influx of players interested in rekindling their love for finding the best synergies and techniques to do in their quest to defeat Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo himself. In the list below, we cover some of Amazon's best builds of the most powerful ranged fighter.
Best Amazon Releases
The Amazons are best known for their prowess with the javelin and bow, making them expert ranged fighters. The Amazons imbue their ranged attacks with magical abilities, essentially making the class the perfect support class, capable of dealing heavy damage and disabling enemy debuffs. The Amazon can usually be worn alone, but are best used in groups for crowd control.
Equipment
One important thing to note about gear is that choosing the right kind almost always comes down to the player's methods rather than the build itself. Since loot is randomly generated as you kill enemies, it's always best to equip the gear that best suits your needs rather than hunting for specific items. However, we've listed the items below that best suit the Amazon class as a whole. If different gear is recommended for a specific build, it will be mentioned in the additional notes for that build.
- Helm: Face of Guillaume or Wing of Valkyrie
- Armor: enigma or chains of honor
- Gloves: Dracul's Grasp or Soul Drainer
- Belt: Verdungo's Nourishing Cord or Thunder God's Vigor
- Boots: Gore Rider
- Shield: Stormshield (if necessary, Amazons rarely use shields)
- Amulet: Cat's Eye or Generalissimo's Wrath
- Rings: Raven Frost, Alliance of Bul-Kathos or Stone of Jordan

Bowazon
One of the two classic Amazon Builds that focuses on using one's skills and magical abilities with the bow. This is perhaps the most versatile version for the Amazon, as it can be modified for the needs of the party or the player until the end of the game.
- Skill points
- Multiple shot: 20
- Guidance Arrow: 20
- Penalty: 20
- Interior view: 10
- Valkyrie : 20
- Dodge: 1
- Critical hit: 1
- Slow Missiles: 1
- Avoid: 1
- Penetrate: 1-3
- Decoy: 1-3
- Drilling: 1
- Stat Points
- Strength: Enough for equipment.
- Dexterity: Transfer most stat points into Dexterity.
- Energy: basic level.
- Vitality: Up to 100 is ideal.
- Notes added
- The Bowazon is a simple and popular build, but it's highly recommended to have a mercenary to distract crowds while you deal damage on the sidelines.
- Equipment
- Weapon: Upgrade your bow as needed and comparing them as you find them. Bows of Faith are widely considered the general choice, but if you're using a crossbow, you might want to imbue it with Lycander's aim.
Lightning Javazon
The Javazon is the older, stronger and more concentrated sister of the Bozazon. While the Bowazon has strength in its versatility, the Javazon almost always has to select skills and playstyles that focus entirely on its Javelins. With the Lightning Javazon, you can easily take out single enemies or full mobs, even without help.
- Skill points
- Power Strike: 20
- Charged Strike: 20
- Thunderbolt: 20
- Lightning Fury: 20
- Drilling: 10+
- Dodge: 1+
- Avoid: 1+
- Escape: 1+
- Critical hit: 1+
- Stat Points
- Strength: Enough for Monarch Shields and Spirit Rune Word (156)
- Dexterity: Enough for Titan's Revenge (109)

Fendazon
Fendazon's Amazons primarily use the Fend skill to turn the Amazon class (usually ranged) into a melee build that can cleave through large groups of tough enemies.
- Skill points
- Defense: 20
- Decoy: 20
- Critical Hit: 10
- Penetration: 1+
- Slow Missiles: 5+
- Interior view: 5+
- Stat Points
- Strength: Enough for high-end Amazon equipment.
- Dexterity: Enough for high-end Amazon gear.
- Energy: basic level.
- Vitality: Deposit nearly all of your stat points into Vitality.
- Notes added
- Maximizing damage is crucial for Fendazons, as they are always close range. For this reason, players should choose to use a spear as their primary damage dealer. If they need to play more defensively, players should have a shield and a javelin as reinforcements.
- Desert Mercenaries with Might or Holy Freeze are best for Amazon. Act II mercenaries are generally best for all Amazons.
- The Decoy skill is essential in almost any battle with large groups of mods because it brings them together so you can jump in and destroy them all at once.

Lightning
The Amazon Thunderfury is one of the most effective crowd control builds in the game. While generally weaker in the early game, this build is extremely powerful when paired with the right gear. This is a skill-based build and it's definitely an acquired taste that takes a lot of practice to get used to.
- Skill points
- Jab: 10 (passive players)
- Stat Points
- Strength: Enough to carry desired items.
- Dexterity: Transfer most stat points into Dexterity.
- Energy: None.
- Vitality: Enough to suit your playstyle, but generally not necessary if you have the right gear.
- Notes added
- Focus heavily on gear that improves your attack rate. If you can't, invest extra points in Penetrate.
- Thunderfury Amazons don't need to put points into bow and crossbow skills.
- Equipment
- Weapon: To be effective later in the game, this build must have either Thunderstroke or Titan's Fury as its primary weapon.
Plagazon
The Plagazon is one of the more unique Amazon builds that focuses on using poison damage. This is an effective build for players who are almost exclusively passive, and provides remarkable versatility for the Amazon, who is generally more focused on her skills.
- Skill points
- Fish javelin: 20
- Poisoned Javelin: 20
- Dodge: 5-15
- Avoid: 5-15
- Escape: 5-15
- Drilling: 5+
- Decoy: 1+
- Critical hit: 1+
- Penetration: 1+
- Valkyrie : 1+
- All passive skills: 1+
- Stat Points
- Strength: Enough for equipment.
- Dexterity: Enough for maximum blocking.
- Energy: basic level.
- Vitality: Deposit nearly all of your stat points into Vitality.
- Additional Notes
- This build is harder to use on Nightmare and Hell difficulty, as there are a lot more poison immune monsters. However, if you can work in tandem with other players, this build will still deal decent damage.
- At least 1 Lure and Valkyrie point is essential for this build to distract mobs and bring them closer together. Without them, this build is essentially useless.
- The Plagazon is a great build to work with other characters in the early game and level them up to access better gear.
Ultimately, the best build for you depends on your playstyle. However, the builds above are tried and tested by many experienced players in the game. If you have any builds that you think should be mentioned , tell us in the comments below!
