As promised during Summer Game Fest 2022, Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course (€7,99) is now available on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Moreover, to celebrate this event with dignity, StudioMDHR has posted a short launch trailer which reminds us that this extension takes place this time on the Watercolor Island supposed to shelter bosses even more formidable than those of the game of base. Of course, we can count on new weapons and charms to face them. But the main novelty is of course the possibility of embodying Madame Chalice alongside Cuphead and Mugman. Compared to the two original protagonists, she has different abilities such as double jumping or being able to dodge attacks while crouching. The icing on the cake, Madame Chalice is playable both in the DLC and in the main adventure.
If we talk about an event for the release of Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, it's quite simply because the game was originally supposed to be released in 2020 before, finally, being postponed. And obviously, COVID-19 isn't the only reason for the two-year delay, with StudioMDHR paying attention to the mental health of its developers as well. “The priority, and even more so during COVID-19, was to make sure everyone was happy, recently explained Maja Moldenhauer, both producer of Cuphead and director of the studio. We are talking about video games. Take your time. Mental health should be above all else. It is necessary that you take the space and the time that you need, especially in the last two years. We said to ourselves: 'If the game takes more enough time to get out. Who cares?' If we're going to take all the risk, it has to be for a company we're proud of, a company that brings together all the things we've ever wanted: respect for each other, love and support; in fact, things that we never received in our previous jobs."
A more than commendable position that goes against the financial imperatives to which most players in the video game industry are subject.
