The install size of the original Demon's Souls for the PlayStation 3 was 8GB, a pittance by today's standards. Unsurprisingly, the Demon's Souls remake for the PlayStation 5 will be noticeably bigger in comparison - over six times bigger.
At 66GB, Demon's Souls on PS5 isn't the biggest game to launch on a Sony console in recent memory. That accolade goes to other massive games such as Modern Warfare (and its battle royale component Warzone), as well as Red Dead Redemption 2 and a handful of others.
It's not even the PS5's biggest game at launch. The Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, which includes Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a remastered version of Spider-Man, costs 105GB.
The PlayStation 5's SSD weighs in at 825GB, although some of that space is used for the operating system and Astro's Playroom, which comes pre-installed on all PS5s. We don't know exactly how big Astro's Playroom is, but it's a safe bet that the actual space on the PS5 SSD will be somewhere in the mid-to-high 700s once everything is done. will be said and done.
While Demon's Souls install size probably won't matter to most gamers who have been waiting for the remake since 2009, it's good to know how much space fans will need, especially if they finish by purchasing multiple games at launch. This doubles as more and more games are released for the system.
The Demon's Souls remake was first unveiled back in June at the Future of Gaming event on PS5. We've since gotten a better look at the action-RPG through screens and a gameplay trailer. The game will be released with the PlayStation 5 and will cost $69,99.
