Sending God of War Ragnarök codes to the press allowed us to discover the new adventures of Kratos and Atreus in advance, but also to see a lot of new technical characteristics in this sequel. We now know that the game will be compatible with the 120hz mode as long as you are equipped with a compatible HDMI 2.1 cable and a television that accepts this functionality, which is still not very widespread on consoles. From memory, the latest Sony television models are all compatible with 120hz, which should guarantee even greater fluidity than the 60fps, already offered in the game. At a time when Gotham Knights has aroused controversy by only offering 30fps (not even stable) for a game yet full next gen', the arrival of the 120hz mode on God of War Ragnarök is therefore welcomed with joy by technocratic players. Here are the different technical modes offered in the game in its PS5 version:
- Favored resolution mode: 4K + 30fps blocked
- Favored performance mode: 1080p + 60fps locked
- High Frame Rate preferred resolution mode: 4K + 40fps locked (HDMI 2.1 required)
- High Frame Rate preferred performance mode: 120 Hz, i.e. 120fps expected (HDMI 2.1 required)
If everyone will be able to take advantage of 60fps, only people with big next gen gear will be able to get a higher framerate, probably ranging from 80 to 120fps in the best case.
