Leaked last February thanks to the Twitter bio of Carter Swan, one of the producers working at PlayStation Productions, the adaptation of Gran Turismo to the cinema was formalized last June. We've since learned that Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) has been cast to direct the film, and a release date has been slated for August 11, 2023. If the cranks haven't yet been given, we have just learned that the main actor for the film has been found. This is David Harbour, the famous Jim Hopper from the series Stranger Things, who we also saw in the reboot of Hellboy (in the title role), but also Red Guardian in the film Black Widow and who we will find in Thunderbolts. It is therefore he who will take on the role of this former professional driver who will be responsible for transforming a player of the Gran Turismo video game into a real car racer. It's hard not to see a parallel with the GT Academy, which trained former Gran Turismo players in real asphalt racing, such as Romain Sarazin, who won the Nismo PlayStation GT Academy Europe in 2015 in Abu Dhabi, after completing his weapons on Gran Turismo 6. Enough to show the general public that you can start driving virtual vehicles in your room before becoming a respected champion on circuits around the world...
