GTA 6: the hacker would have been arrested, he is a 17-year-old teenager

It didn't take long for the police to get their hands on what appears to be the possible hacker who leaked no less than 90 GTA 6 videos last Sunday. The information first fell to the BBC before being confirmed by the British Police in London who relayed the information on their social networks. A 17-year-old young man has indeed been arrested in Great Britain in Oxfordshire and he is suspected of being the author of the hack within Rockstar Games, but also the company Uber following a security breach. . As a reminder, earlier in the week, Uber said it had contacted the FBI and the United States Department of Justice to handle this security breach case. According to Uber, the hacker(s) are affiliated with a hacking group called Lapsus$, which has become increasingly active over the past year. This collective of hackers, which could be based in South America, is responsible for a series of cyberattacks against large companies such as Nvidia, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Samsung and Vodaphone.

On the evening of Thursday 22 September 2022, the City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the @NCA_UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).

On Monday afternoon, just under 24 hours after the leaked videos, Take-Two (the parent company of Rockstar Games), publicly acknowledged the leaked GTA 6 videos and claimed that they had "taken measures to isolate and contain this incident". According to Matthew Keys, a journalist with Reuters, the FBI should take the floor in the following hours to communicate around this stop. The young man faces heavy penalties if found guilty of these acts.
