Monster Hunter Rise Wisplanterns are rare items you'll need to collect if you want to get the most out of the Argosy Sub - and you want to get the most out of it. Completing Culture Exchange quests means more rare items for your item box without you having to go out and find them.
Don't expect to get them right away, though. Wisplanterns tend to be more common in higher rank missions, and even then it may take multiple expeditions to get what you need. This Monster Hunter Rise guide tells you everything you need to know.
Where to find Wisplanterns in Monster Hunter Rise
The Wisplanterns come from the Shrine Ruins map, specifically the Shimmering Red Berry plants. However, there are only a handful in the region, mostly towards the far north. They also produce Firelanterns and, at high rank only, Phantolanterns, so you're not always guaranteed to have a Wisplantern.
Some players are reporting better chances of getting Wisplanterns from High Rank Expeditions – that's a five-star or higher quest – although we didn't notice significantly better luck in our testing. Still, it's worth a try, if only to hunt rare monsters and bring back better gear while you're there.

We've marked all Shimmering Red Berry locations in the Sanctuary Ruins on the map below.
You will also need to find Boatshells to complete Culture Exchanges. These only come from the Frost Islands and the Oyster Beds you can pick up there. As with the Wisplanterns, you may have better luck hunting them in a high rank quest, although we also found some in a low rank quest.
You can't use Wisplantern for anything else, so feel free to ignore them for the rest of your stay in Kamura.
