Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama is working on a new horror adventure game with his studio Bokeh and recently released a video with never-before-seen screenshots, as well as a preview of its ongoing development.

Toyama found inspiration for the as-yet-unknown horror title in so-called death game stories, tales that pit characters against each other in gruesome competitions, much like Danganronpa. Without saying much about his upcoming match, Toyama said:

These [death game] works tend to add entertainment to somewhat brutal worlds, so I naturally took that approach.

My point of view of horror is that everyday life is shaken. Rather than just showing scary things, it should challenge our position and make us question the fact that we live in peace.

Judging by the concept art shared by Toyama, it seems safe to say that Bokeh's new (and first) game is sure to shake up everyday life. The stills almost all focus on insects and other monstrosities in various stages of bursting from human hosts, with an illustration – of the protagonist, perhaps – holding a sword and standing on top of a building.

We still have a ways to go before we see anything else on Toyama's new game. Bokeh's game is set to release on "as many console platforms as possible" sometime in 2023.
