State of Decay 3 is coming. The latest installment in the open-world zombie survival series was unveiled at the recent Xbox Series X games showcase. It will be coming to Xbox Series X and PC. According to Microsoft, all games that appeared during the showcase will be playable through Game Pass, including State of Decay 3.
There is currently no release date for State of Decay 3. Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty said more information about the games featured in the showcase will be released at future events, some later this year. So it's possible we'll know more about a release date or release window before the end of 2020.
It's also possible we'll know more about State of Decay 3 in general by the end of the year. It looks like the game is still in early development. Undead Labs, the developer of SoD 3, announced via the State of Decay 2 Twitter account that the new game "is in active development."
Other than that, there really isn't much for fans to do right now. The images below show no gameplay, but focus on a short cinematic in which a lone survivor fights to stay alive.
The original State of Decay launched in 2013, while its sequel State of Decay 2 was released in 2018. deploring its bugs and its repetitiveness.
However, that didn't stop millions of players from jumping into the game on release, bringing the player base to around 5 million as of August 2019.
