Paradox's Mars colonization strategy game, Surviving Mars, will get its next expansion on September 7, the publisher has announced. In the follow-up to 2019's Green Planet expansion, which saw terraforming introduced to the game, Below & Beyond will allow players to explore and build below the surface of the Red Planet.
The expansion is set to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $19,99. Surviving Mars Product Manager at Paradox Interactive, Magnus Lysell, said:
When we started planning the Surviving Mars sequel, we really wanted to dive deep into the parts of the Red Planet that we hadn't explored yet. We know we had to come out swinging and Surviving Mars: Below & Beyond expands the gameplay significantly. The possibilities are endless and we look forward to continuing to explore the red planet with our players.
As you might expect, new mechanics, vehicles, buildings, and technologies will be introduced in Below & Beyond, including mining resource-specific structures under the Difficult Wastes and on "Passing Asteroids". Expanded base building elements will also allow for the creation of underground settlements.
The Mars Lifestyle Radio Pack will be released alongside Below & Beyond and will feature 16 original tracks spanning 70 minutes of music. This bundle will cost $3,99 on PC and Xbox One and $4,99 on PlayStation.
