We are 24 hours from the launch of the new Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 and on the side of Activision, we are busy promoting it. It is recalled that its deployment will mark the end of the first Warzone, which will then be renamed Warzone Caldera to announce its end life after two years of good and loyal service. The new Warzone 2.0 will indeed approach the gameplay and ecosystem of Call of Duty Modern Warfare II with a Season 1 filled with new features, recalled in the video. First thing to know, the environment will be located in Al Mazrah, a metropolis in the Middle East located near the sea, which will offer new maritime areas for the Battle Royale until then. Among the big new features, we can count on the DMZ mode, which is none other than a version inspired by Escape from Tarkov. It is therefore an open world very focused on the narrative to be played as a team with missions and loot to collect, while trying to survive as long as possible. The particularity of this mode is that in the event of death, the weapons will remain on standby before they can be used again and it will then be necessary to fight with less effective weapons.
Another very nice novelty: aquatic combat. As mentioned above, Al Mazrah has many water points, rivers and openings to the high seas. There is the southern sea which extends from the edge of the Al Safra quarry beyond the port of the city of Sa'id, but also around the village of Sawah, the bay of Sariff, the fortress from Al Bagra and Al Malik airport. The village of Sawah, the hydroelectric power station of Zarqwa and the swamps of Mawizeh are heavily flooded areas too, while one will find oases which also contain some small pools of water. A river runs from the north of the village of Taraq, through the town of Al Mazrah, to the swamps of Mawizeh. It then splits in two directions: part of the river continues west through the Zarqwa Hydropower and passes through the town of Sa'id. The other part continues south past the village of Ahkdar to the sea section above Al Malik airport.
These waterways are useful for stealth operations, as it is difficult to locate those moving underwater. However, in the Fleet, an Operator can only use small melee weapons like the Combat Knife and Handguns, as well as pieces of equipment like the Throwing Knives. But as everyone knows, these weapons are lethal enough to get the job done. Note that certain pieces of lethal and tactical equipment, as well as Killstreaks, also have special properties on water. For example, proximity mines float and can detonate ships that run into them. Drill charges, on the other hand, burrow into water and explode below the water surface. However, there are two major drawbacks to swimming: oxygen requirements and boats. The first prevents you from swimming underwater indefinitely, and the second causes instant death if they crash into you.
Let's talk about the use of vehicles that will resume what was done in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, since we can not only pilots, but also perform some more flexible maneuvers to continue fighting. For example, you can lean out of the window to shoot weapons, change seats, climb on the roof, and this, regardless of whether you are a passenger or a driver. Ideal for jumping on an enemy vehicle and taking it by surprise. Note that vehicles also have more realistic damage, with more advanced damage management. Shooting at a vehicle's tires causes its pilot to lose control, just as blowing up doors weakens the defenses of enemies inside.
However, there are two other aspects to consider on the vehicle side: fuel and the ability to repair damage to the vehicle. Fuel appears as a counter next to vehicle damage and the passenger counter at the bottom of the UI. No need to worry about the cost at the pump, fuel can be filled either with gas cans found on the map, or at gas stations. Note that once a vehicle runs out of fuel, it no longer functions. As for repairs, it is possible to change tires by manually interacting with each tire to replace it. Managing these two features will obviously be the key to survival in both Battle Royale and DMZ modes.
