Rumors have spread that the next season of Fortnite will not be Chapter 2 Season 9 as everyone expected, but will reset the countdown to start Chapter 3 Season 1. Although the information available are mostly speculative, the odds are high.
There are two important things to note about this rumor. The speculation started when Twitter user @passy1x tweeted out a conversation he had with Epic's support team asking popular Fortnite leaker @iFireMonkey if this seemed real. In the Tweet (which is shown below), an Epic Games support specialist includes in a response email "The current chapter is here until December 5, 2021."
This could easily be dismissed as an accident or even just a miscommunication. In response to the rumors that spread from the Tweet, @iFireMonkey noted that the response came from the Fortnite Support Team, not the Fortnite Development Team. That could make all the difference when trying to figure out what message to take away from it.

For those who didn't believe the next email meant anything special, things got a little more compelling when Epic Games VP and co-founder Mark Rein addressed the rumours. In his all-too-common calculated answer to the question "Will v19.00 be the start of a new chapter?" “, Mark Rein simply states “Time will tell”.
We can't say we're surprised, as @MarkRein is known for his vague answers on anything related to future Fortnite updates. Still, he did not deny the possibility. With all the hype about the destructive powers of The Cube Queen (and her alternate styles called Islandbane), it seems more likely that we'll get a new map soon.
That's all the information we have so far! Do you think they will reset the chapter in December?
