One of the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 Season Challenges requires players to purchase an item from a malfunctioning Vending Machine. It could be a Weapon-O-Matic or a Mending Machine, but it must be faulty. Malfunctioning vending machines look like regular vending machines, but have a red front with a large red exclamation mark on the front. There are no defined slots for malfunctioning vending machines, as it is possible for any normal vending machine to malfunction.

Players will need 100 gold bars and a bit of luck when trying to find a malfunctioning vending machine in Fortnite. The best places to look are:
- Coney Crossroads
- sleeping sound
- condominium canyon
These three locations each have three vending machines in close proximity to each other. The other areas on the map above that have a higher concentration of machines should be next to search. Players will need to keep checking the vending machines until they find a faulty one and can use the 100 gold bars to purchase an item, thus completing the quest.
