With the start of the new season, we found that an exciting new mechanic has been added to the game: tamed wolves! This isn't the first appearance of wolves in Fortnite (they were first introduced in Chapter 1), but it's certainly the first time wild animals have played a role. You are undoubtedly wondering: how to tame them?
How to tame wolves in Fortnite
Assuming you don't include hiring hunters as taming, this is also the first time you can return a creature that likes you in a match. What better way to start this than with wolves? At the moment, there's only one way to tame a wolf to fight on your behalf: feed it.
Step One: Get Meat
Wolves can only be tamed if you have at least one meat in your inventory. Before approaching them, it is strongly recommended to hunt other animals, as they are easier to kill. If you're feeling daring, you can definitely hunt a wolf for a piece of meat instead of a chicken or boar.
Step two: find a wolf and tame it
Once you have a piece of meat, your next task is to find a wolf. This is usually the hardest part, as wolves are the rarest animals on the map. Generally, you're much more likely to come across them if you're looking for forest areas, especially Weeping Woods.
One thing you can try to speed up the process is to enter a forest area and periodically fire your weapon. Wolves in Fortnite are attracted to sound, and if they hear your gun, they might run to investigate. Once you've found one, it's time to tame it!
Options Tip: It's also useful if you have a Hunter Cloak equipped, but not until you find a wolf to tame.
Once you find a wolf, throw the meat into your nearby inventory. It will stop attacking you (if it was), lose focus, and pay attention to the meat instead. After biting it, you have a short amount of time in which you can finish taming it.
Third step: tame it!
The second part of this stage occurs after the wolf has eaten the meat. Approach him quickly and interact with him when the option is available. The wolf will howl and hearts will appear around it. Congratulations, you now have your very first pet wolf!
